winners were announced at Al Jam 2002,
which was held on October 19.
This year's winners were:
Anthony Brown, age 20.
Anthony recently graduated from Muskegon Heights High School and is now attending Central
State University in Wilberforce, Ohio.
He plays the tenor saxophone and the tuba, and has won many awards including the Louis Armstrong
Jazz Award, the Best Buy Scholarship, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Scholarship and was chosen
to travel to Omuta, Japan, Muskegon's sister city.
Derek Clements, age 14.
Derek attends Montague Middle School and plays the saxophone.
He has attended Blue Lakes Fine Arts Camp and has participated in church band, youth choir,
school band and school choir.
